Margret Ada Cheslic

Margret Ada, daughter of Martha Ann (Hacker) and Melvin John Harding was born in Alva, Oklahoma on February 10, 1904. She passed away from this life at the Alva Share Medical Center on the 28th of March at the age of 104 years, 1 month and 18 days. She attended schools in Alva and rural Alva, where she spent her growing up years. Miss Harding married Ralph Melcher Cheslic July 14, 1927 in Anthony, Kansas. Following their marriage they lived in rural Attica, Kansas where they farmed and raised their family. To the marriage 8 children were born; James "Jim", Donald "Don", Marilyn, Violet, Neoma, Alice, Raymond and Carolin. While dedicating herself to raising the children Ada spent many hours gardening, canning and sewing and still found time to pursue her favorite hobby of quilting which she was able to do until the last few years. Many people are still treasuring the results of her talent. After the death of her husband Ralph on February 22, 1965 she returned to Alva where she was able to live in her own home until the age of 102 with the help of beloved grandson Danny. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son James, daughter Marilyn Roach and her husband Daris, granddaughter Christina Cheslic, grandson Ricky Pyles, 3 great grandchildren Ashley Shelter, Ricky Shelter and Dustin Weirauch; 4 brothers Freddy, Earnest, Nobel and his wife Goldie, Earl and his wife Thelma, 3 sisters and their spouses Rosie and Glenn Crab, Opal and Theodore Perks and Ruby and Norman Perks, and a half sister, Ruth Turner, Ada is survived by two sons, Donald and wife Velma of Arkansas City, Ks. and Raymond and wife Diane of Jet, Ok. four daughters, Violet Cattin and husband Bud of Augusta, Ks., Neoma Dale of Meriden, Ks., Alice Reed of Clinton, Ok., and Carolin Ray and husband Marshall of Bella Vista, Ar., two half sisters Betty Anderson of Pampa, Tx., Ramona and Mike Muegge of Tonkawa, Ok., two half brothers and their wives, Dean and Jane Harding of Amarillo, Tx. and Leonard and Verda Harding of Fritch, Tx. 25 grand children, 30 great grand children and numerous great-great grandchildren as well as many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
