Allen Dale Shafer

Allen Dale, was born on October 19, 1944, in Alva, Oklahoma, to Beulah (Arndt) and Raymond Shafer. In 1950 at the age of six the family moved and he attended Knobnoster Public Schools. He passed away on June 16, 2026, at the VA Hospital in Oklahoma City at the age of 81 years, 7 months and 29 days. Just three short months ago, Allen was mowing the lawn and repairing his extensive collection of lawn mowers, a hobby he greatly enjoyed. Allen also loved to fish. Allen married Patricia Randall in April 1963 in Sedalia, Missouri, and they later divorced in 1988. To this union, two sons were born, Allen and Kenneth. In 1991, Allen married Pat Marsh. He was a devoted husband to Pat for the past 35 years. Allen proudly served his country during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1973. While serving as a Sergeant in the Army, he received numerous awards, including the Combat Infantryman Badge and the Army Commendation Medal, honors awarded to soldiers who have demonstrated heroism and meritorious service in active ground combat. Allen was a master mechanic, and in addition to owning his own repair shop, he worked for Sneary Lincoln Mercury, Washburn Motor Company, and Shafer Auto Shop. He was known for his mechanical skills, strong work ethic, and willingness to help others. Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Beulah Shafer; his siblings, Velma, Jesse, Verla, Raymond, John, Gerald, and Dean; and his step-grandson, Drew Hadwiger. He is survived by his wife, Pat; his sons, Allen Shafer and Kenneth Shafer; daughter-in-law, Sandra Shafer; Kenneth's companion, Tami Girton; stepdaughters, Debbie Blackshaw and Donnell Glass; step-sons-in-law, Jeff Blackshaw and Gregg Glass; and Tina Long, his former daughter-in-law, who remained a devoted caregiver. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Alex Shafer, Dexter Shafer, Addie Shafer, Emily Beeler, and Lexie Britton; his great-grandchildren, Bryleigh, Kaden, Aubrey, and Lainey Shafer; Sutton, Grady, and Townes Prather; Ruthie Beeler, whom he was blessed to meet when she was just five days old; and Case Britton. He is further survived by his step-grandchildren, Sara Brantly, Lindsey Bellah, Tatum Hughes, and Drew Glass. Allen loved his family with his whole heart and will be deeply missed.
