Virgie Ann Butler

Virgie Ann was born to Delila (May) and Virgil Brady on August 24, 1931 in Alva, Oklahoma. She passed away peacefully at Beadles Nursing Home on January 29, 2017 at the age of 85 years, 5 months, and 5 days. She attended Farry schools and graduated with the class of 1948 on May 14. She attended Northwestern State College. Miss Brady was married to Daro Dean Butler on February 14, 1954 in Alva, Oklahoma. To this union a daughter Verlinda Sue was born. After their marriage they lived in Alva, then Capron moving back to Alva to make their home. She worked at Alva Memorial Hospital, Northwest Translator, and Woods County Election Board. Virgie and Dean loved playing cards with their friends. They loved to host card parties. Playing Hand and Foot was a regular part of any family get-together. Virgie loved to sew. She loved making quilts, but especially loved making clothing. She loved to make clothes for Verlinda and Angela. She loved to make matching outfits for Angela and her barbies. Virgie was a member of The Alva First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) serving in several offices of the church and as a member of C. W. F. She was preceded in death by her parents. Virgie Ann is survived by Dean of the home, her daughter and husband, Verlinda and Kent Gregg of Alva, OK, a granddaughter and husband, Angela and Mitch Lyon of Enid, OK, two great grandchildren, Harrison Charles Alfred Lyon and McCartney Delila Jo Lyon of Enid, OK. a brother and wife, Verle Leon and Bonnie Brady, a sister-in-law, Geri Butler of Novato, CA and several nieces nephews and other relatives and friends.
