Suzanne Resler passed peacefully surrounded by friends and family in her home in Alva Oklahoma on Monday, June 17, 2019. She had stunningly learned of the pancreatic cancer that would take her life only three weeks before. Suzanne Harzman Resler was born on September 9, 1940 and raised in Alva, Oklahoma. She was preceeded in death by her husband, Pete Resler; parents Charles and Elaine Harzman and all 4 of her brothers: Bill , Nick, Mike, and Kem Harzman. Suzanne married Paul D. Resler of Cherokee Oklahoma who she met while attending Northwestern Oklahoma State University where she received her bachelor’s degree in physical education. She also received her Master’s degree from Oklahoma University. She then taught dance at Hayes State University before moving to Overland Park Kansas where she started her family. She is survived by daughters Trina Resler, and Viki Resler White and grandchildren Tanner and Jordan McGehee, Piper Resler, Tyson, Cadee and Trevor Fromm, Taylor and Jackson White. Suzanne served the community through the Department of Rehabilitation, department of human services, and as executive director for the Girl Scouts. She spent her life working to make other’s lives better. She was inspiring, uplifting and never failed to reach out her heart to those in need. Suzanne was the matriarch of our family, a job which probably began as the only sister in a family of 4 boys. She was our guide and our listener. She never failed to have advice, love and understanding for all of her family and friends. Memorial Contributions may be made in her memory to The Vera Mae Foster Home.
