Ruth Alice Buhler
October 2, 1932 - August 17, 2008
Ruth Alice, daughter of Alice (Veatch) and Chalmer E. Morefield was born on October 2, 1932 in Burlington, Oklahoma. She passed away at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City on the 17th of August at the age of 75 years, 10 months and 15 days. Ruth graduated from Alva High School with the class of 1950. She received her B.S. degree in home economics from the Friends University in Wichita, Kansas. Miss Morefield was married to Edward Lee Buhler on July 17, 1955 at the Alva Friends Church. To their marriage two sons, Jim and Clay were born. Ed passed away on August 30, 1996. Following their marriage they lived in Hardtner and in 1956 they moved to Tulsa. In 1957 they went to Potwin, Kansas, where she taught school. In 1960 they came to Alva to make their home. She worked at E.W. Tanner Company and Northwestern University Cafeteria as cashier for twenty-one years. The students affectionately called her Miss Ruth, at breakfast and lunch. She called them by their first name making them feel at home and at ease. Mrs. Buhler was a member of the Alva Friends Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and his wife, Frank and Lois Morefield and a brother-in-law, Francis. Ruth is survived by her two sons, Jim of Fairview, and Clay of Belvidere, Illinois. Three nieces, Cecie Dunkin, Robin Holland and Dana VanNorden; a nephew, Larry Buhler, an aunt Mildred Veatch of Cherokee, other relatives and friends. PDF Printable Version
