In Memory of Robert Manuel Bettencourt Robert Bettencourt, 83, passed away on April 28, 2022 in Alva, Oklahoma. There will be no funeral services at this time. Robert was born in Newport, Rhode Island on February 26, 1939. He was one of five children of the late John S. and Evelyn G. (Silveira) Bettencourt. He attended Rogers High School. Robert grew up in the Newport, RI area and was an organizational supply specialist in the Air Force for 4 years. He started his family with Judith Mae McDuffie on June 6, 1961. Their marriage of 58 years resulted in 5 children, and she passed on in 2019. Robert was a professional truck driver for most of his life, driving a milk truck in Indianapolis, IN. The family relocated to Waynoka, Oklahoma in 1977, where Robert was a professional truck driver for Budweiser and several flat bed freight companies. Robert retired in the early 2000s. He enjoyed tinkering with televisions and building electronics, building computers, music and was an avid animal lover. Robert is preceded in death by his parents, John and Evelyn, his daughter, Julie Bettencourt, his son, Robert Bettencourt, Jr., his wife, Judith Bettencourt, and his brother, John Bettencourt. He is survived by his brothers Anthony Bettencourt and his late wife Jane of Chicago, IL and Larry Bettencourt and his late wife Jaye of Middletown, RI, and his sister Gloria Silvia and her husband Edward of Middletown, RI. He is also survived by his sons Fred Bettencourt, Floyd Bettencourt, and daughter Kimberly Maggard and husband Bill of Dennard, AR, as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Robert has been cremated and there will be no memorial services per his wishes. Remembrances can be sent to Wharton Funeral Chapel, or posted on their webpage.
