Marvin David son of Mailda (Schwab) and P.A. Weigand was born on a farm around Ingersoll, OK on April 19, 1925. He passed away on August 5, 2019 in Alva at the age of 94 years 3 months and 17 days. He went to school in Short Spring Schoolhouse for three years graduating from Lambert High School with the class of 1944. He attended Northwestern State College receiving a bachelor’s degree in 1950. After graduation he went to work for Oklahoma Natural Gas Company working on rural compressors in southern Kansas where he lived and maintained the compressors. He also worked at the compressor plant north of Alva, OK. He retired in 1980 after 30 years. Marvin was a member of the First Baptist Church in Alva, OK A jack of all trades, he loved to work with his hands, making knifes from pieces of metal that he found. He enjoyed carving wood and gardening. He loved to grow vegetables while living at the Homestead. He would bring his vegetables in for the cooks to use. As he got older others helped him with his gardening. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, twin infants, two brothers, Julius and R.J. Marvin is survived by two sisters, Ella May and her husband Lelyn Batt of Abilene, TX, Virginia Harvey of Wichita, KS, two brothers, Emmanuel, and wife, Lois Fay Weigand of Farmington, NM and Norman, and wife, Gladys Weigand of Wichita, KS. Other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that the contributions go to Samaritans Purse through Wharton Funeral Chapel.
