Loyd Meisenheimer

July 6, 1920 - November 22, 2007

View the image gallery Loyd Eugene, son of Marie (McAtee) and Dwight Meisenheimer was born on July 6, 1920 at Kingman, Kansas. He passed away at the Alva Share Medical Center on the 22nd of November at the age of 87 years, 4 months and 16 days. He attended the Butler Rural Grade School and graduated from the Kingman High School with the Class of 1938. In 1940 went to California and return to Kingman and farmed. In 1942 joined the U.S. Army serving in W.W II in the European Theater was in the battle of the bulge and the German Occupation. In 1948 was married to Effie Blankenship at Wichita, Kansas. To their marriage a daughter, Janet Kay was born. Effie passed away in 1959. Following their marriage they lived in Wichita and he worked for Kraft Foods delivered over western Kansas. They came to Woodward, Oklahoma and operated a motel. In 1960 he came to Alva working as a finish carpenter for Robert R. Brown Company for over thirty years On June 14, 1967 at Woodward he was married to Dorothy Gunn and they have made home in Alva. Mr. Meisenheimer was a member of the Alva First United Methodist Church, the Alva Blackwing Post of the VFW, the Alva Elks Lodge, and the Alva Moose Lodge receiving his fifty year pin from the Kingman Masonic Lodge in 2005. He was preceded in death by a step son, Stephen Gunn, his parents and two brothers, Francis and Otis Lee. Loyd survived by his wife, Dorothy of the home, a daughter, Janet Kay Meisenheimer of Austin, Texas, a grand son, Justin Gunn of Ocala, Florida, a daughter-in-law, Mary Gunn of Huston, Texas, a sister, Anna Louise Wood of Winter Haven, Florida and a brother, Dwight Leroy of Kingman, Kansas. Several nieces, nephews, other relative and friends. PDF Printable Version
