LeOna Mae Bradt

LeOna Mae, daughter of Mary (Robinson) and Leonard Sample was born on the May 18, 1931 in Freedom, Oklahoma. She passed away at the Grace Living Center in Buffalo, Oklahoma on the 1st of October at the age of 78 years, 4 months and 13 days. She attended the Freedom Public School System and graduated from the Freedom High School with the Class of 1949. On August 15, 1949 at Perryton, Texas she was married to Loyd Bradt for 54 years. To their marriage four children, LeRoy Eugene, LaVeta Kaye, LuDella Faye, and LesLee Everet were born. Lloyd passed away on February 18, 2002. Following their marriage they lived in Freedom. In December of 1952 they moved to the Selman area where they farmed and ranched. In May of 1962 they returned to Freedom. They operated the Cattleman’s Café and afterwards Mrs. Bradt stayed active and baby-sat many children from the Freedom area before working as a Contract Mail Carrier for 17 years. Mrs. Bradt was preceded in death by her daughter, LaVeta Kaye Diacon on January 25, 2008; her parents and a grandson, Jason Neal Bradt. LeOna is survived by a daughter, LuDella Fells of Alva. Two sons, LeRoy and his wife Glenda of Buffalo and LesLee of Alva; a son-in-law John Diacon; 12 grandchildren, Misty Cell, Amanda Lambert, Martina Cell, Amanda Bradt, Stephanie Bradt, Abby Bradt, J.D. (John) Diacon, Terry Diacon, Desirae Potts, Shawna Medley, Murl Medley and Wayne Medley. A number of great grandchildren, a sister and her husband, Ida and Leon Howland of Freedom and a brother, Larry Sample of Enunclaw, Washington and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
