John Franklin Cunningham

John Franklin, son of Mae Emily (Walker) and Charles Wayne Cunningham, was born on July 3, 1945 in Alva, Oklahoma. He passed away in Midland, Texas on May 10, 2010 at the age of 64 years, 10 months and 7 days. He graduated from Capron High School and Okmulgee Technical College. John enlisted in the U.S. Navy SeaBees where he left for overseas duty in Vietnam for a period of one and a half years. He returned to Alva where he worked as a mechanic for Rhodes Salvage for four years. In 1972 he moved to Midland, Texas and worked for 34 years for Stewart and Stevenson, where he was certified Craftsman Guild, Detroit Diesel Guild and Master Thermo King Technician. John was preceded in death by his sister, Alma Jean Ellison. He is survived by his seven children: Christopher Duane, Bruce Wane, Emily Elaine, Jonathon Laine, Mary Loraine, Victor Austain and Jere Destain; eleven grandchildren and one great granddaughter; two sisters, Charlene and Dean Brintnall of Kiowa, Kansas and Alice Faye and Jesse James Jr. of Chandler, Oklahoma; a beloved brother-in-law Jack Ellison of Midland, Texas; numerous loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
