February 23, 1953 - March 8, 2022
Jimmy, was born on February 23, 1953 to Maurine (Smith) & Bob Reneau in Alva, Oklahoma. Jim passed away at age 69 on March 8, 2022 after a battle with cancer. Jim graduated from Liberal High School in 1971 and later graduated with a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Northwestern Oklahoma State University. He then moved to Argonia, Kansas where he taught school for a few years. After a few years of teaching school, he decided to switch careers and become a fireman. Jim served the citizens of Dodge City and Ford County for 30 years as a firefighter/EMT. He began his career with the Dodge City Fire Department in 1982 and then retired from Ford County Fire and EMS in 2012. Jim also worked part time as a custodian at the First United Methodist Church, in Dodge City, where he was an active member for many years. Jim had recently moved to Emporia, Kansas to be closer to his medical doctors. Jim always had a smile on his face and a kind word to say about everyone. He loved getting to spend time with his family, especially when everyone was able to get together for Christmas and doted on his great niece and nephew. Jim was also famously known for his “Jim Jokes.” Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Maurine Reneau, and his sister Robin King. He is survived by his brother-in-law, Harry King of Canadian, Texas; Niece, Julianne King of Wichita, Kansas; Nephew, Jeff King and his wife Amie King of Florence, Arizona; Great Niece, Rylee King of Florence, Arizona; and Great Nephew, Ryan King of Florence, Arizona. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First United Methodist Church in Dodge City, Kansas.
