Jack Milton Moore

Jack Milton Moore, beloved son of Lillian and Emerald W. Moore, was born October 13, 1923 in Kansas City, Missouri and died February 26, 2011 in Alva, Oklahoma. Mr. Moore grew up and was educated in Alva, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree from Northwestern Oklahoma State University. He also earned a Master’s degree from Chicago Academy of Fine Arts. He was a WWII 30th infantry division veteran, serving in France. He was honorably discharged March 15, 1945 after being wounded, receiving many medals and honors. He made post-war visits to the European theatre and enjoyed seeing the re-built Europe emerge. His Army service and friendships were very formative and important to him. Mr. Moore was a professional photographer in Alva and an educator, serving in Kansas City, Missouri and in Derby, Kansas. In Alva he was known as a gentleman and enthusiastic promoter of all things Alva and Northwestern Oklahoma State University. He served on the boards of the Alva Public Library and the Northwestern Oklahoma Concert Series and was a member of the Kiwanis Club. He had an extensive personal library and enjoyed Laurel and Hardy comedy and memorabilia. His family were members of the First Presbyterian Church and he was a serving Elder at his passing. Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, E.W. Moore Jr. Jack is survived by his nephew, Michael Moore and his family; and by his niece, Linda Oulton and her family, both of Atlanta, Georgia; and by his beloved cat Sir Felix, and many friends. His body was cremated at his request, with Wharton Funeral Chapel. PDF Printable Version
