Jack Custer

February 17, 1938 - December 25, 2013

Jack Martin, son of Ruby (Price) and Roy Custer, was born February 17, 1938 in Cherokee, Oklahoma. He passed away at his home in Cherokee on the 25th of December at the age of 75 years, 10 months and 8 days. He attended the Cherokee school system until he got tired of the teachers telling him what to do and joined the United States Air Force at the age of 17. He went to Korea and many other places during his service to his country. On January 14, 1996 he was married to Judie Swimm. Jack worked for the City of Cherokee for 32 years, was a volunteer fireman for over 20 years and City Commissioner for 4 years. He was also an ambulance driver for several years before becoming an EMT. He loved it and wanted to deliver a baby, but never got to. He loved to go camping, watch birds and people. He loved to make clocks for people. Mr. Custer loved people. No matter if in a Café, out camping or wherever he would have a conversation with them. There is no bigger OU fan than Jack and he has the biggest collection of OU Items. There was no other team except OU. He was preceded in death by a son, Alan; his parents; two sisters, Collen Hawkins and Doris Pantel; and a brother, Bob. Jack is survived by his wife, Judie, two step children Timothy & Amy Russo and Tracie and Mac DeLozer; two granddaughters, Shanely Ara Russo and Carli Rocco Russo; two great grandsons, Arron and Alec Tidwell; two sisters-in-law Gladys Custer and Sandy George; his father-in-law Leonard John Swimm; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
