Imogene Lorene Peterson

Imogene Lorene, daughter of Mary Ellen (Percival) and Roy Samuel Fender was born on a farm 14 miles west of Alva on November 20, 1927 she passed away at Beadles Nursing Home on 16 May 2019 at the age of 91 years, 5 months and 26 days. She attended the Mound Ridge Rural Grade School and Alva Hoace Mann High School graduating with the class of 1945. Miss Fender was married to John H. Peterson at the Alva Wesleyan Methodist Church on March 13, 1945 to their marriage three children were born David, Tom, and Katie. Following their marriage they made their home in Alva, in the mid 50s they moved to Roseburg, Oregon where John operated The Peterson Tilling and Trucking Company while she stayed home and took care of the children after John’s declining health they owned and operated the Mode O Day Clothing Store and was a paper carrier for the Record Search Light. She Returned to Freedom in 1993 to make her home and she was a member of The Freedom Christian Church. Mrs. Peterson was preceded in death by her parents. Mr. Peterson in 1985, two brothers: Bill and Bob. Imogene is survived by her three children and their spouses Katie and Chris Strehl Of Freedom, OK, David and Mary of Springfield, Oregon and Tom of Vancouver, Washington; 7 grandchildren and their spouses, Traci and Dwight Drapela, Tami and Robert Pemberton, Tina Peterson, Chandra Peterson, Aaron Peterson and Ashley Strehl; 6 great-grandchildren; Emily and Isabel Drapela, Ryan, Alex, Sam and Abby Pemberton; two sisters Dorothy Puckett of Derby, Kansas and Judy DeVine of Freedom, OK; a sister-in-law, Lynda Fender of Yukon, OK; a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
