Faye Hager

September 14, 1922 - January 27, 2006

Rosetta Faye, daughter of Maude Ann (Highfill) and Elza Albert Benson was born Northwest of Alva on September 14, 1922. She passed away at the Alva Share Medical Center on the 27th of January, 2006, at the age of 83 years, 4 months and 14 days. She attended the Rose Hill Rural Grade School and then Horace Mann High School and helped in harvest as a cook. Miss Benson was married to Roy G. Hager on March 22, 1941 at the Cedar Grove Parsonage. To their marriage two children, Chester Glenn and Patricia Ann, were born. Roy passed away on December 20, 1988, at the Veterans Hospital in Oklahoma City. Following their marriage they lived on a ranch in Wilmore, Kansas. In 1944 they returned to farm northwest of Alva. Roy joined the United States Army serving in Japan, while at the same time Faye moved to Alva where she worked at the Pix Theater, JC Penny, and Holder Southern Drug. In 1963 they went to The Dalles, Oregon. In 1965 they moved to Woodward; in 1972 they returned to Alva where Faye worked as a C.N.A. at the Share Medical Center until she retired on December 31, 1984, in order to take care of her granddaughter, Lindsay, and other children. She was baptized at the Cora Church and later attended the Alva First Christian Church. Mrs. Hager was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Jessica Goldsmith, her parents, three sisters, Joan Hall, LuElla Sternberger, the infant Loretta Maude, and a brother, Donald Lee. Faye is survived by her two children and their spouses, Glenn and Gayle of Helena, and Patricia and Steve Headlee of Alva; five grandchildren and their spouses: Sherri and Gary Turner of McCloud, Carla and Richard Goldsmith of Enid, Misty Codrey of Tulsa, Chris and Melissa Headlee of Alva and Lindsay Headlee of Alva; six great grandchildren, John Andrew, Elizabeth Gayle and Aaron Michael Masquelier, Richard Eugene Goldsmith III, Chelsea Laree Goldsmith, Hayden John Codrey; two sisters, Alice Sneary McCrady of Castle, Marian Jean and her husband Bill Hatcher of Enid; two brothers and their wives, Harold and Etha Benson of Alva and Jim and Gwen Benson of Heavner, and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
