ALVA, Okla. – CHARLES "CHARLIE" JOSEPH MAOLA, 55, died at his residence at 2:52 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011, following a lengthy illness. He was born in East Liverpool, Ohio on Dec. 11, 1955, a son of Sarah J. Maola of East Liverpool and the late Joseph D. Maola, who died Feb. 4, 1985. At one time Mr. Maola sold Automobiles for Morrow’s in Beaver Falls. He then moved to Alva, Oklahoma and has resided there since 2002. A member of the St. Ann Catholic Church, he was an avid wood worker. A graduate of East Liverpool High School in 1974, he was a drummer and vocalist with his local band “Hollywood Face” In addition to his mother, he is survived by a sister, Rose Ann Gerace of East Liverpool. He is also survived by his former spouse of 23 years, Joy Maola. He leaves behind his constant companions, Callie Jo and Boomer Ray, as well as many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He also leaves behind his best friend, Rick Graham. The family will receive friends on Monday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home in East Liverpool. Fr. George Balasko will officiate a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church in East End. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center immediately following the services. PDF Printable Version
