Life Legacy
Peggy Earlene daughter of Josephine (Waddle) and Everett Ewers, was born November 11, 1934 in Turkey Ford, Oklahoma. She passed away at the Alva Share Medical Center on the 5th day of October at the age of 74 years, 10 months and 24 days.
She attended the Turkey Ford Rural School in Ottawa County.
On December 8, 1951 in Raton, New Mexico she married Jim Penrod. To their marriage four children, Don, Edith, Vicky and Jimmie Lee Jr. were born.
Mrs. Penrod loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed playing bingo, making dresses for babies and embroidering towels. She was best known as “Granny” after working as a crossing guard at Washington Elementary for many years.
She was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Lee; her parents; and a brother, Bill.
Peggy is survived by her husband of fifty-seven years, Jim; two daughters, Edith Duncan of Alva, and Vicky Penrod, of Stratford, Texas; a son and his wife, Don and Kim of Alva; four grandchildren and their spouses, Kelly and Felicia Penrod, Arthur and Leslie Penrod, Randy and Tammi Penrod, and Ariel Penrod; four great grandchildren, Riley and Mason Penrod, and Aspen and James Penrod; a brother and his wife, Tom and Dixie Ewers, of Stratford, Texas; four sisters, Katie and her husband Allen Hopkins, of Miami, Edith McMillian, of Garnett, Kansas, Sue DeVorss, of Great Bend, Kansas , and Betty Jo and her husband Carl Zimmerman, of Rocky Ford, Colorado, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
